View calendars together
If both calendars already sit in one Google account, turn each one on in the left sidebar. Google Calendar overlays them in a single view. That is combining the display, not merging the event lists.
If the calendars live in different Google accounts, share one calendar into the other account. In Settings and sharing, add the other Google account and choose See only free/busy (hide details) or See event details. The other account adds it from the invite email. It shows under Other calendars. You can also subscribe from Other calendars on a computer, or add a public calendar from a URL.
What a shared view does not do
- The events stay on the shared calendar. They do not become events on the calendar other people book.
- Booking links and colleagues scheduling on the other calendar still see that calendar as free unless they also have the overlay open. An appointment-schedule booking page only checks extra calendars if that account's owner turns that on and selects them. Checking secondary calendars needs an eligible Workspace or Google One plan.
- Work or school admins can limit or block external sharing. Google Calendar Help also says your administrator decides whether you can share a work or school calendar.
Google Calendar Help steps checked Nov 1, 2026. Sharing versus writing holds is covered in the show busy time without sharing event details and How to sync two Google Calendars from different accounts guides.
One-time merge: export, import, or move
To put events from one calendar onto another, Google Calendar can export a copy as a .ics file and import that file into a destination calendar. Export and import run on a computer, not in the Google Calendar app. You need Make changes and manage sharing on the calendar you export. Work or school admins can restrict export.
- On a computer, open the Google account that has the events. Open Settings, then Import & export, and export. A zip of .ics files downloads if you export every calendar. Or open one calendar's Settings and sharing and export that calendar only.
- If you have a zip, unzip it. Import each .ics file on its own.
- Sign in to the Google account that should receive the events. Open Settings, then Import & export, choose the .ics file, pick the destination calendar, and import. The default destination is the primary calendar.
If both calendars are in the same account, you can move an event you own instead: open the event, edit it, change the calendar, and save. You can also copy an event onto another writable calendar from Options. A move leaves one copy. A copy or import leaves the original where it was.
What a one-time merge does not do
- It is a snapshot. Google Calendar Help says imported events do not stay in sync between two accounts. If the original event later moves or is cancelled, the imported copy stays until you edit or delete it.
- Repeating export and import can leave a second copy of the same events. Google Calendar Help does not describe a merge that updates events already on the destination.
- Titles, times, descriptions, and locations travel with the copy. Google Calendar Help says guests and conference data are not imported.
- You can only move an event onto a calendar that appears in that account's picker. A personal Gmail event does not list a work calendar unless that work calendar is shared with write access.

When to sync busy time instead
Merge when you truly want one calendar that holds every event. Sync busy time when work and personal should stay separate — each calendar keeps its own titles — but the calendar colleagues or a booking page use should still show you as busy.
Resync does not merge calendars and does not share them with each other. It reads when you are busy on Google calendars you mark as sources and writes hold events onto Google calendars you mark as mirrors. $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required.
- Holds are titled Busy. Description, location, attendees, and conference data are left empty, so source meeting details stay on the source calendar.
- When you mark calendars as both source and mirror, a booking on either calendar becomes a Busy hold on the others. That is two-way blocking between those Google calendars.
- If a source event moves, Resync updates the hold. If the event is cancelled, marked free, declined, or is a working-location event, Resync does not keep a hold.
- Resync looks 90 days ahead when it reads source events. Holds it writes are marked so they are not copied again.
- Resync watches source calendars and updates holds when those events change. A polling fallback also runs about every 5 minutes.
- If you delete or edit a hold, Resync records that and does not recreate it for the same source event on that mirror.
- Read-only calendars cannot be mirrors. Resync currently syncs Google calendars only.
Use the overlay when you only need to see the other calendar. Use export, import, or move when you want one combined event list. Use Resync when the calendars that get booked should treat the other account's busy time as busy. The busy-time guide covers free/busy share versus writing holds. The two-calendar sync guide covers sharing and iCal URL subscriptions across accounts.
Set up Resync
- Sign in with GoogleOpen Resync and sign in with the Google account you want as your primary account. You land on setup.
- Connect another Google accountChoose Connect another Google account and finish Google's permission screen. Resync needs at least two Google accounts before you can start.
- Start syncingWhen a second account is connected, setup shows bidirectional mirroring as the intended default: real events on either side become private busy blocks on the other. Choose Start syncing to open the dashboard.
- Mark sources and mirrorsIn Sync configuration, turn on Source to read busy time from a calendar and Mirror to receive Busy holds. A calendar can be both. Read-only calendars cannot be mirrors because Resync needs write access to create holds.
What is and isn't copied
Resync copies the source event's start and end so the hold occupies the same window. It does not copy meeting details, and it does not pour one calendar into another.
- Copied: start time, end time, and time zone. The hold is titled Busy and marked so Resync can find it later.
- Not copied: source title, description, location, attendees, conference data, or attachments. Those stay on the source calendar.
- Not mirrored: events marked free, events you declined, and working-location events. Holds Resync already wrote are skipped so Busy blocks are not copied back.
- If you delete or edit a hold, Resync records that change and does not recreate a hold for the same source event on that mirror.
- People with free/busy access on the mirror see a Busy block. People who can see event details still see the title Busy, not the source meeting name. If the source event is Private, the hold is Private. Otherwise the hold uses default visibility.

FAQ
Can I merge two Google Calendars into one with one click?
No. Google Calendar has no one-click merge. You can overlay several calendars in one view, export a .ics file and import it into another calendar, or move events between calendars you own. Import is a one-time copy. If you want work and personal to stay separate but each show you as busy, sync busy time instead of merging.
How do I combine a work and personal Google Calendar?
To see both in one place, share the personal calendar into the work account (or the other way) and add it from the invite. That is a view, not a merge. To put every event onto one calendar, export a .ics file from one account and import it into the other. Imported events do not stay in sync, and titles and other details travel with the copy. If you want each calendar to stay separate while booking tools see you as busy, use Resync to write private Busy holds.
Does exporting and importing Google Calendar events keep them in sync?
No. Google Calendar Help says imported events do not stay in sync between two accounts, and that sharing is the built-in way to keep a view updated. Export and import is a snapshot. If the source event later moves or is cancelled, the imported copy stays until you edit or delete it.
Will I get duplicate events if I import the same calendar again?
Treat a later export and import as another copy. Google Calendar Help does not describe a merge that updates events already on the destination. Repeating the copy can leave you with a second set of the same events. Move an event instead when both calendars are in the same account and you want one copy.
Does Resync merge calendars or copy event titles?
No. Resync does not combine calendars into one. It writes a hold titled Busy onto each calendar you mark as a mirror. Description, location, attendees, and conference data are left empty. Free, declined, and working-location source events do not get a hold. Resync also skips holds it already wrote, so those Busy events are not copied back.
How far ahead does Resync sync, and how often?
Resync reads source events in a 90-day window from now. It watches source calendars and updates or removes holds when those events change, move, or are cancelled. A polling fallback also runs about every 5 minutes. $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required.
Connect the Google calendars you want to keep aligned, then mark sources and mirrors on the dashboard.
Resync will ask Google for permission to:see your list of calendars; see events on the calendars you choose as Sources, to know when you're busy; and create, update and delete events titled "Busy" on calendars you choose as Mirrors. We never store event titles, attendees or locations. Privacy policy
