Reclaim.ai alternatives for calendar sync (2026)

People look up Reclaim.ai alternatives when they used Reclaim to put personal busy time onto a work Google Calendar — or the other way around — and want something simpler or cheaper.

Reclaim is an AI calendar. Calendar Sync is one feature of that product. It writes event copies onto another calendar so coworkers see you as busy. Reclaim also ships Habits, Focus Time, Tasks, Smart Meetings, and scheduling links.

If you only need the sync part between Google calendars, a single-purpose tool is a different job. Resync writes hold events titled Busy, with no source titles or attendees. $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required.

This is not the Clockwise alternatives for calendar syncguide. That page is about replacing Clockwise after it shut down. This page is about Reclaim's Calendar Sync versus tools that only write busy holds.

What Reclaim does besides Calendar Sync

Reclaim's own Calendar Sync page describes an AI scheduler that also syncs calendars. The sync feature:

The rest of Reclaim — Habits, Focus Time, Tasks, Smart Meetings, scheduling links — is a planner. Resync does not do that work. If you want the planner, keep Reclaim. If you only used Calendar Sync to block work and personal Google Calendars, the options below compare that job.

Built-in option: share or subscribe in Google Calendar

Google's free path is still to share a calendar from account A to account B, or copy the secret address in iCal format and Add by URL. B sees A under Other calendars. You can grant See only free/busy (hide details).

What sharing does not do

  • It is a view. A's events stay on A's calendar. They do not become events on B's calendar.
  • Other people booking B do not automatically see A's busy time. B's booking page only checks extra calendars if B's owner turns that on and selects them. Checking secondary calendars needs an eligible Workspace or Google One plan.
  • Work or school admins can limit or block external sharing. Google Calendar Help does not publish a refresh interval you can set for URL subscriptions.

How Resync's Busy holds work

Resync does not share calendars with each other. It reads when you are busy on Google calendars you mark as sources and writes hold events onto Google calendars you mark as mirrors.

  • Holds are titled Busy. Description, location, attendees, and conference data are left empty, so source meeting details stay on the source calendar.
  • When you mark calendars as both source and mirror, a booking on either calendar becomes a Busy hold on the others. That is two-way blocking between those Google calendars.
  • If a source event moves, Resync updates the hold. If the event is cancelled, marked free, declined, or is a working-location event, Resync does not keep a hold.
  • Resync looks 90 days ahead when it reads source events. Holds it writes are marked so they are not copied again.
  • If you delete or edit a hold, Resync records that and does not recreate it for the same source event on that mirror.
  • Read-only calendars cannot be mirrors. Resync currently syncs Google calendars only.

Use sharing when you only need to see the other calendar. Use Resync when the Google calendars that get booked should treat the other account's busy time as busy. Use Reclaim, OneCal, Morgen, or CalendarBridge when you also need Outlook, iCloud, or an AI planner.

Free and open-source options

Google Calendar sharing is the free built-in option. It does not write holds. Reclaim Lite is free forever and includes 1 Calendar Sync, so you can keep Reclaim if one sync policy is enough.

OneCal, Morgen, and CalendarBridge publish trials. None of those pricing pages list a lasting free plan for full sync. Resync is $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required.

There is no maintained hosted open-source Reclaim alternative on the vendor pages we checked. Self-hosted GitHub projects exist, but they were not reviewed as products here.

Who each option fits

  • Google built-in. You only need to see the other Google calendar yourself. Sharing or an iCal URL subscription is free. It is the wrong tool if other people book the second calendar and should treat the first calendar's busy time as busy.
  • Reclaim. You want the AI scheduler — Habits, Focus Time, Tasks, Smart Meetings, scheduling links — and Calendar Sync onto Google or Outlook is one piece of that. Lite is free with 1 Calendar Sync. Paid plans add more syncs and a longer scheduling range.
  • OneCal. You need to mix Google, Outlook, iCloud, or CalDAV, and you want to choose how much detail clone events carry. OneCal documents real-time Google and Outlook updates. Plans start at $5/user/month billed annually for 2 calendars. Resync cannot cover those other providers.
  • Morgen. You want an AI daily planner and can accept Calendar Propagation that runs once a day for the next 14 days. Pro is $15/month billed yearly after a 14-day trial. Use it when a same-day hold is not required.
  • CalendarBridge. You want a sync-first tool that writes copies onto Google or Outlook, with optional iCloud or ICS URL sources, and you want to turn event details off so copies are titled busy. Basic is $5/month or $4/month billed yearly for 2 sync connections.
  • Resync. The calendars that get booked are Google calendars, and you want Busy holds with no source titles, attendees, or locations. $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required. Resync does not move meetings, create Focus Time, or offer scheduling links.

Set up Resync

  1. Sign in with GoogleOpen Resync and sign in with the Google account you want as your primary account. You land on setup.
  2. Connect another Google accountChoose Connect another Google account and finish Google's permission screen. Resync needs at least two Google accounts before you can start.
  3. Start syncingWhen a second account is connected, setup shows bidirectional mirroring as the intended default: real events on either side become private busy blocks on the other. Choose Start syncing to open the dashboard.
  4. Mark sources and mirrorsIn Sync configuration, turn on Source to read busy time from a calendar and Mirror to receive Busy holds. A calendar can be both. Read-only calendars cannot be mirrors because Resync needs write access to create holds.

FAQ

What is a simpler Reclaim.ai alternative for calendar sync?

Reclaim is an AI scheduler. Calendar Sync is one feature: it writes event copies onto another calendar. If you only need busy blocks between Google calendars, Resync writes holds titled Busy and costs $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required. OneCal and CalendarBridge also write copies and add Outlook or iCloud. Google sharing is free, but it is a view, not a hold.

Is there a free Reclaim.ai alternative?

Google Calendar sharing and See only free/busy (hide details) are free. They overlay a calendar; they do not write events onto the calendar other people book. Reclaim Lite is free forever and includes 1 Calendar Sync. Resync is $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required.

Is there an open-source Reclaim.ai alternative?

I did not find a maintained hosted open-source product that writes busy holds across Google calendars. The free options that are on vendor pages are Google Calendar sharing and Reclaim Lite (1 Calendar Sync).

Does Reclaim Calendar Sync copy event titles onto the other calendar?

It can. Each sync policy sets privacy. Busy for All shows only Busy with no details. Other settings can show a generic commitment label or event details. Bidirectional blocking is two policies, one in each direction.

When should I keep Reclaim instead of switching?

Keep Reclaim if you want Habits, Focus Time, Tasks, Smart Meetings, or scheduling links, or if you need Calendar Sync onto Outlook. Those are a different product from busy-hold sync. Resync does not do them.

Does Resync sync Outlook or iCloud?

No. Resync is a Google Calendar app. It does not write holds into Outlook or iCloud. If you need those providers, Reclaim documents Google and Outlook Calendar Sync, OneCal documents Google, Outlook, iCloud, and CalDAV, CalendarBridge documents Google, Outlook, iCloud, and ICS URL sources, and Morgen documents Google, Outlook, iCloud, and Fastmail for Calendar Propagation.

What if I delete a Busy hold that Resync created?

Resync records that change and does not recreate a hold for the same source event on that mirror calendar.

Connect the Google calendars you want to keep aligned, then mark sources and mirrors on the dashboard.

Resync will ask Google for permission to:see your list of calendars; see events on the calendars you choose as Sources, to know when you're busy; and create, update and delete events titled "Busy" on calendars you choose as Mirrors. We never store event titles, attendees or locations. Privacy policy
