Google Calendar invite not showing up? Fixes

Short answer: a Google Calendar invite that does not show up is usually one of these. The invitation email never arrived, or it is in spam. Add invitations to my calendar is set to Only if the sender is known or When I respond to the invitation in email, so the event stays off the calendar until you reply. The calendar is hidden or unchecked. You declined or deleted the event, and Show declined events is off. You are looking at a different Google account. On iPhone, Apple Calendar also needs Google's Calendar sync page and a check in the Calendars list. Outlook only sees a Google calendar through a subscribed ICS feed unless you accept the meeting. A work or school admin can restrict invitation settings.

Resync does not fix invites, email delivery, Outlook, Apple Calendar, or iCloud. It only creates Google-only private Busy holds between a user's own Google Calendars. Use Resync when people double-book you because your other Google calendar's events do not show as busy.

Quick diagnosis

Start on calendar.google.com in a browser. If the invite is missing there, fix the email, Event settings, or account before you change a phone. If it is on the web and only gone from one app, stay on that device. A meeting invite is not the same as a shared-calendar email. Shared calendars are in the shared calendar guide.

Invite email not arriving

Google Calendar Help says guests receive an email invitation. They can reply Yes, No, or Maybe in that email. If the email never arrived, stay on mail first.

  1. Search the inbox and spam for the organizer, the event name, or a calendar invitation. Gmail and other mail apps often file unknown senders as spam.
  2. Confirm the organizer used the address you actually read. An invite sent to a work address will not appear in personal Gmail.
  3. If you use Google Calendar, check email notifications on a computer. Google Calendar Help says guests will not get an email if they opt out of email notifications for changes to their calendar. Open Settings, then the calendar under Settings for my calendars, then Other notifications.
  4. The organizer can also choose not to send the invitation email. Google Calendar Help says they can remove you from the event and add you again.

This is a meeting invite, not a request to add a whole shared calendar. If a shared calendar never appears under Other calendars, use the shared calendar guide. Resync does not send or recover invitation emails.

Invite not on the calendar

The email can arrive while the event still stays off calendar.google.com. Google Calendar Help documents Add invitations to my calendar under Settings → Event settings.

  1. On a computer, open Google Calendar. Click Settings, then Event settings, then Add invitations to my calendar.
  2. From everyone adds invitations sent directly to your address. For invitations sent to a Google Group, Help says you can respond to the email to add the event.
  3. Only if the sender is known adds the event if the sender is in your contacts, part of your organization, or someone you previously interacted with. If the event is not added, you get an invitation email. Respond Yes or Maybe, or add the sender to contacts.
  4. When I respond to the invitation in email adds the event only after you respond to that email. Google Calendar Help says guests' calendars always update after Yes or Maybe in the invitation email.

If you use a work or school account, Google Calendar Help says your administrator controls which invitation settings you can use. Google Workspace Admin Help lets admins set the least restrictive level: Invitations from everyone, Invitations from known senders, or Invitations users have responded to via email. Users cannot choose a more open option than that. Changes can take up to 24 hours.

  • If the event is on the calendar but you cannot see it, check the calendar box in the left list. An unchecked calendar hides every event on that overlay.
  • If you replied No, Google Calendar Help documents Show declined events in the Calendar app: Menu → Settings → General. That setting shows events you said No to. A deleted invite is gone unless the organizer adds you again.
  • Google Calendar on the web is one account per tab. Switch accounts and open the inbox that received the invite.

Device sync problems that are not about the invite itself are in the not-syncing guide. Resync does not change Event settings or accept invitations.

iPhone and Apple Calendar

Decide which app you mean. The Google Calendar app and the Calendar app that comes with the iPhone are not the same. An invite can be right in one and missing in the other.

For the Google Calendar app, Google Calendar Help says: check your internet connection, update the app, make sure the calendar is visible, and confirm events are on a Google account. Open the app, tap Menu, and select the calendar that should hold the invite.

For Apple Calendar, Google Calendar Help documents adding Google in Settings, then Calendar, then Accounts, then Add account, then Google. Apple Support for current iOS documents Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts. Both add the Google account to Apple Calendar. Turn Calendars on for that account.

  • In Apple Calendar, tap Calendars and select the Google calendar. An unchecked calendar looks like the invite never arrived.
  • Google Calendar Help says calendars under My calendars, plus Birthdays, sync automatically. Other calendars use the Calendar sync page: check the names, click Save, then refresh Apple Calendar. Google Calendar Help still documents that page.
  • If the Google account does not support Push, Apple Support documents Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Fetch New Data. Under Fetch, choose a schedule. Automatically downloads new data when the iPhone is charging and on Wi-Fi.

Seeing Google calendars in Apple Calendar, or iCloud calendars in Google Calendar, is in the Sync Apple (iCloud) Calendar with Google Calendar guide. Device sync that is not specific to an invite is in the not-syncing guide. Resync does not sync Apple Calendar or iCloud and does not change those Settings toggles.

Outlook

Accepting a meeting invite in Outlook is not the same as subscribing Outlook to a Google calendar. Microsoft documents seeing your Google Calendar in Outlook by copying Google's secret address in iCal format and pasting it into Subscribe from web. That feed is read-only.

Outlook on the web can take more than 24 hours to refresh a subscribed calendar. A classic Outlook .ics import is a snapshot and does not keep updating. A new Google invite will not appear on that overlay until the feed refreshes, and you cannot RSVP from the subscribed copy.

For meeting invitations themselves, Microsoft documents Calendar settings: Automatically place new meeting requests on my calendar, marked Tentative, and Automatically process requests and responses from external senders. If those are off, an invite from outside your organization can sit in mail and never land on the calendar.

The full ICS steps, including the other direction, are in the Outlook guide. A stale Google From URL subscription is in the subscribed calendar guide. Resync does not connect Outlook or Microsoft 365.

Outlook or Exchange invites to Google

An invite created in Outlook or Exchange still has to reach Google Calendar as a meeting invitation. Google Calendar Help says non-Google Calendar users get an email, which updates their calendar per the settings of their calendar service. On the Google side, Add invitations to my calendar still applies. If the sender is unknown, respond Yes or Maybe in the email.

Google Workspace Admin Help says Outlook invitations that use Transport Neutral Encapsulation Format (TNEF) can hinder Calendar from syncing those invitations. In Gmail, a TNEF invite shows two attachments and a winmail.dat file when you choose More → Show original. A standard iCalendar (.ics) invite has one attachment. Google recommends turning off TNEF in Microsoft Exchange so Outlook sends a standard .ics file.

Subscribing Google Calendar to a published Outlook ICS URL is a different path. That From URL feed is read-only and refreshes on Google's schedule. It does not accept or decline the meeting. Those steps are in the Outlook guide. Resync does not import Outlook or Exchange invitations.

Android

If the invite is on calendar.google.com and missing in the Google Calendar app, stay on the phone.

  1. Check Wi-Fi or mobile data. The app needs a network.
  2. Update the Google Calendar app from the Play Store.
  3. Open the app, tap Menu, and select the calendar that should hold the invite. A hidden checkbox looks like a missing event.
  4. In the device Settings app, open Passwords, passkeys & accounts (or About phone → Google Account), select the Google account, tap Account sync, and turn Calendar on.
  5. In the Calendar app, tap Menu → Settings → General. Google Calendar Help documents Show declined events and Adding invitations there.
  6. Tap Menu → Refresh to sync now.

Samsung Calendar is a different app. If events exist in the Google Calendar app but not in Samsung Calendar, treat that as phone sync, not a missing invite. Those steps are in the not-syncing guide. Resync does not change Android or Samsung Calendar settings.

When Resync helps (and when it does not)

Use the steps above when the problem is an invite email, Event settings, a hidden calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, or an admin limit. Resync does not fix invites, email delivery, Outlook, Apple Calendar, or iCloud. It does not accept or decline events.

Use Resync when people double-book you because your other Google calendar's events do not show as busy. Resync only creates Google-only private Busy holds between a user's own Google Calendars. It reads when you are busy on Google calendars you mark as sources and writes hold events onto Google calendars you mark as mirrors. $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required.

  • Holds are titled Busy. Description, location, attendees, and conference data are left empty, so source meeting details stay on the source calendar.
  • When you mark calendars as both source and mirror, a booking on either calendar becomes a Busy hold on the others. That is two-way blocking between those Google calendars.
  • If a source event moves, Resync updates the hold. If the event is cancelled, marked free, declined, or is a working-location event, Resync does not keep a hold.
  • Resync looks 90 days ahead when it reads source events. Holds it writes are marked so they are not copied again.
  • Resync watches source calendars with Google push notifications and updates holds when those events change. A polling fallback also runs about every 5 minutes.
  • If you delete or edit a hold, Resync records that and does not recreate it for the same source event on that mirror.
  • Read-only calendars cannot be mirrors. Resync currently syncs Google calendars only.

Set up Resync

  1. Sign in with GoogleOpen Resync and sign in with the Google account you want as your primary account. You land on setup.
  2. Connect another Google accountChoose Connect another Google account and finish Google's permission screen. Resync needs at least two Google accounts before you can start.
  3. Start syncingWhen a second account is connected, setup shows bidirectional mirroring as the intended default: real events on either side become private busy blocks on the other. Choose Start syncing to open the dashboard.
  4. Mark sources and mirrorsIn Sync configuration, turn on Source to read busy time from a calendar and Mirror to receive Busy holds. A calendar can be both. Read-only calendars cannot be mirrors because Resync needs write access to create holds.

FAQ

Why is a Google Calendar invite not showing up?

Start on calendar.google.com in a browser. If the invite is missing there, it is not a phone problem. Google Calendar Help documents Add invitations to my calendar under Settings → Event settings. Only if the sender is known, or When I respond to the invitation in email, leaves unknown or unanswered invites off the calendar until you respond in the email. The calendar can also be hidden, you may have declined or deleted the event, or you may be signed into a different Google account. A work or school admin can restrict which invitation setting you can use.

Why is a Google Calendar invite not showing up in email or Gmail?

Google Calendar Help says guests receive an email invitation. If it never arrived, check spam, confirm the organizer used the address you actually read, and check email notifications on a computer. Guests will not get an email if they opt out of email notifications for changes to their calendar. The organizer can also choose not to send the email. Google Calendar Help says the organizer can remove you from the event and add you again. A meeting invite is not the same as a shared-calendar email.

Why is a Google Calendar invite not showing on iPhone or Apple Calendar?

Confirm it first on calendar.google.com. If it is there and missing on the phone, the Google Calendar app and Apple Calendar are different apps. In the Google Calendar app, tap Menu and select the calendar that should hold the invite. For Apple Calendar, add Google in Settings. Current iOS documents Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts. Turn Calendars on, then tap Calendars in the Calendar app and check that calendar. Google Calendar Help says calendars under My calendars, plus Birthdays, sync automatically. Other calendars use Google's Calendar sync page. If the account does not support Push, Apple Support documents Fetch New Data.

Why is a Google Calendar invite not showing in Outlook?

Accepting a meeting invite is different from subscribing Outlook to a Google iCal feed. Microsoft documents seeing a Google calendar in Outlook by pasting Google's secret iCal address into Subscribe from web. That feed is read-only and can take more than 24 hours. Microsoft also documents Automatically place new meeting requests on my calendar, marked Tentative, and Automatically process requests and responses from external senders. A subscribed ICS overlay will not show a new Google invite the way an accepted meeting does. Resync does not connect Outlook.

Why is an Outlook or Exchange invite not showing in Google Calendar?

Google Calendar still needs Add invitations to my calendar to allow that sender, or you need to respond Yes or Maybe in the invitation email. Google Workspace Admin Help says Outlook invitations that use TNEF can show as a winmail.dat attachment in Gmail instead of a standard iCalendar (.ics) file. A standard .ics invite works better with Google Calendar. If you only subscribed Google to a published Outlook ICS URL, that is a delayed read-only copy, not a live accepted invite. Resync does not import Outlook or Exchange invites.

Does Resync fix a Google Calendar invite that is not showing up?

No. Resync does not deliver invite emails, change Add invitations to my calendar, accept or decline events, or fix Outlook, Apple Calendar, or iCloud. It works only with Google Calendar accounts. It reads busy time from Google calendars you mark as sources and writes private Busy holds onto Google calendars you mark as mirrors. Use it when people double-book you because your other Google calendar's events do not show as busy. $1.50/month or $9/year after a 30-day free trial, no credit card required.

Connect the Google calendars you want to keep aligned, then mark sources and mirrors on the dashboard.

Resync will ask Google for permission to:see your list of calendars; see events on the calendars you choose as Sources, to know when you're busy; and create, update and delete events titled "Busy" on calendars you choose as Mirrors. We never store event titles, attendees or locations. Privacy policy
